For a more comprehensive list of indicators, please check the 'Further Information and Resources' section at the end of this course.

Keep in mind that trafficked persons:

  • may have difficulty in articulating their fears or the nature of their health problems
  • may not be familiar with the concept of 'trafficking' but instead blame themselves for bad luck or poor judgement
  • are in an unfamiliar culture with possibly very little awareness of their legal rights or of the availability of help and support
  • might not understand that they are being exploited
